Top 5 Plays from Boston Celtics Win Against Oklahoma City Thunder (3/21/22)





Marcus Smart and Robert Williams were both out from the Boston Celtics game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Marcus Smart missed the game due to a non-Covid related illness. Robert Williams missed the game due to right patella tendinopathy in his leg. This is the medical name for the more commonly known "jumper's knee". Fortunately, those who played were firing on all cylinders, yet again. Jayson Tatum had 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Grant Williams had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Al Horford led the team in assists, dishing 7 assists throughout the game. Jaylen Brown had 25 points, and Payton Pritchard had 18 points on 45% three point shooting.

Who is Payton Pritchard?

Payton Pritchard is a third year NBA player who was drafted by the Boston Celtics. He’s 6’1, 195 lbs, and full of energy. The 2020 Draft Prospect page on NBA.com for Pritchard has him at 6’2, 206 lbs. They list his strengths;  Confident ball handler, passer and shot maker. Creates space with hesitation dribbles and burst. Has deep shooting range and a quick release. Plays with poise and tenacity.   All of which have been ringing through, especially as of late. From when this article was being written (3/25/22), Pritchard has shot 58% from the three-point line in his last 5 games. He also had 2 games of perfect shooting. This season, he is shooting an elite 40% from beyond the arc. From the free-throw line, he is a perfect 100%. Clearly, the man can shoot lights out. If his offensive pace keeps up, he will carve out a nice role not only on the Boston Celtics, but the NBA as a whole, as an elite shooter who can give you plenty of buckets at any time. The Derrick White trade was a surprising one when it was first broken during the chaotic times of the trade deadline. Boston exchanged Josh Richardson, Romeo Langford, and two picks for Derrick White. Since the trade, the Celtics have won 10 out of the last 12 games they’ve played. He has averaged about 10 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, and 1 block. Shortly after the trade, in an interview, head coach Ime Udoka said that “He checks a ton of boxes. He's a perfect fit on and off the court. A guy who's going to come right in and be selfless, work hard offensively and defensively.
